A few weeks’ ago Laura from Dairy Free Kids nominated me to take part in the ‘A-Z of me’. It sounded like a fun challenge so here are a few things you might not know about me….
I don’t want J’s allergies to define our lives but there is no escaping their daily impact. This blog has helped me take a more positive and proactive approach to them though.
Only 6 weeks to go until baby#2 is due! It is going so fast and can’t believe I will have another baby soon. I am scared but excited and can’t wait to see J as a big brother.
We have a cat called Stinkeye! We took him in as a stray from the field and he had conjunctivitus so my husband gave him that nickname and it just stuck.
I love to dance. I’ve done ballet, belly dancing, hip hop, contemporary and miss the days when I used dance the nights away.
This song by The Foo Fighters was our first dance at our wedding and it always cheers me up.
I love living rurally surrounded by fields. It is not our farm but we have such easy access to so much open space it is great for all the family.
This is one of my favourite foods and so healthy too.
H: Haven Holidays
I spent many happy times at Haven Holidays as a kid and then worked as a Haven Mate in France in my university summers.
This is on my travel bucket list as I want to take my Mum there for her 70th birthday in a few years’ time.
J: My little boy!
J is my little pumpkin. The beautiful boy that has changed our lives, inspired this blog and brought us so much joy and so many sleepless nights!
K: Baby kicks
I am finding this pregnancy much harder than my first one but I will miss those amazing little baby kicks and J’s face when he feels one.
I wanted to be a lawyer when I was a teenager and still think I would have been very good at it. I love to argue a case but I’m not sure I would have relished all the long hours!
We went on honeymoon to the Maldives and it is the most stunning place I have ever visited.
I lived in New York with my husband for about a year and a half before I dragged him over to the UK (he’s American). It is such a vibrant city and we lived right in the heart of Manhattan.
These dairy free treats are a staple in our house and give J his American fix!
I spent 2 months in Peru, living with a local family in the Andes, volunteering and travelling solo. I would love to do something similar again one day.
We are finally getting a practical family car that we can fit two children and a dog in!
I’ve always loved adapting recipes and developing my own dishes and now it has become an essential part of cooking with J’s allergies.
This was the name of our childhood home that my parents sold last year. I now have the house sign hanging in my porch!
I have travelled to 50 countries over 6 continents and love visiting new countries. I hope I can get J interested in the world and show him some of my favourite places.
U: Aquagenic Urticaria
I have Aquagenic Urticaria which means I come out in itchy hives when I go in any kind of water.
V: Vision Of The Seas
This is the name of the cruise ship that I worked on after university and where I met my husband. We sailed on it again as passengers in 2012 when it visited Russia, Sweden and Estonia.
W: Writing training
My day job is as a writing trainer, teaching businesses and individuals how to write more clearly and get their messages across well.
X – Kisses!
Y: 10 years
I have been with my husband for 10 years – how did that happen?!
Z: Zzz sleep
The biggest thing I miss about life before children is uninterrupted sleep! Maybe, one day…
