Watching the sunrise at the top of a volcano in Hawaii, staying in a water hut in the Maldives and going on safari in Malawi are just some of my favourite travel memories. I met my husband working on a cruise ship, lived in New York and got married on a yacht in Cyprus so travel has always played an important part in my life.
During my travels I have visited 51 countries across 6 continents, but our adventures have slowed down since we’ve had children. It has become even trickier with their allergies but we have still managed to travel to America, Dubai, Spain and France. I’ve even launched a global website, Allergy Travels, to help other people with allergies travel the world safely.
I am always planning our next adventure, thinking about how I can pass my passion on to J and Miss A and dreaming of all the amazing places we could see.
If I won the lottery next week, I would love to take the children round the world for a year, ticking off all my bucketlist along the way. Through Lottoland you can bet on the outcome of lotteries all over the world, including the American Powerball, which has a jackpot of £325million this week – I think we could afford our own private jet with that!
The idea of a big family adventure while they are still young really appeals to me and I think travel in itself teaches you so much.
So here are the top 10 things on my travel bucketlist:
Disneyland
I know it’s an obvious one but I can’t wait to take the children one day and enjoy that magical experience as a family.
Volunteering in Nepal
I spent 6 weeks volunteering with street children in Peru and would love to do something similar again and Nepal has always fascinated me.
Pyramids in Egypt
They are a classic and somewhere I just need to see. Plus I’ve never ridden on a Camel!
Hot air balloon ride in Kenya
I have seen videos of this and it just looks so majestic and the perfect way to take in the scenery and spot some animals.
Budapest
We used to go on city breaks regularly before we had the kids and this is the next city on my list.
Rio carnival
I love a good carnival and you can’t get bigger and better than this one!
Galapagos islands
I almost visited here when I went to Peru but it was very expensive so it’s still on my to do list.
Vietnam and Laos
Southeast Asia is the area of the world I have spent the least time in so I would love to go back and explore some more.
Family cruise
Cruise ships play a special part in our family story and I know the kids would have such a great time on one. Plus I’ve heard they are often great with allergies.
American road trip
As J and Miss A are half American I want to take them across the country and there is no way better than hiring an RV and hitting the road.
What’s on your bucketlist? Where do you dream of going?
