I love cats. Big cats, small cats, cuddly cats and anything in between. So it was great to spend my birthday this year at Paradise Wildlife Park, enjoying their newly updated big cat territory. We’ve been to Paradise Wildlife Park before to explore the World Of Dinosaurs but only had a quick look around the animal park. This time was all about the animals .
The highlight for me was enjoying lunch in the Tiger Treetops cafe, with a window seat overlooking the Tigers. It was amazing to have that view and even more impressive that you can enjoy it for the price of a cup of tea. You can even book it out for private functions so would make a really unique party spot.
The Tigers weren’t very active but the Lions, in a big enclosure in the centre of th park, definitely made up for it. They were play fighting, kicking a ball. roaring, climbing on their rock and generally amusing the crowd.
You can also watch them from a few different angles on the grouns, as well as from a high up platform to give you a different perspective. They came right up to the window just as we were leaving, which enthralled the kids.
There is also a Jaguar, Cheetah, Ocelot and Snow Leopard to enjoy so if you love big cats like I do, there is lots to look at.
It’s not all about the cats though. I particularly liked all the monkey enclcosures while J found the Meerkats fascinating and Miss A made a beeline for the Penguins. Mr C is never keen on the creepy crawlies but we were all amazed by the huge Anaconda in the Angkor Reptile Temple.
Later in the day, we spent some time the playground which has some really imaginative pieces including a refurbished train and fire engine, both with slides, and a priate ship. So J was in his element! We didn’t visit the dinosaurs this time but it is all included in the price so there is plenty to fill a whole day and it is good value for money as it feels like you are getting two different parks for one.
There’s even a soft play centre for rainy days and a small splash park, which I didn’t know about, which would be perfect to cool off in the Summer. We’ll definitely go back to Paradise Wildlife Park as there really is something for all the family.
