Favourite things & free recipe ebook

March 31, 2016 by Emma 8 Comments

March has been an exciting month with J turning 3 – how did that happen?! – and my husband and I sneaking off for a spa break. Baby A has really got into her weaning and is also crawling and climbing everything, chasing after her big brother. I am happy to see the light evenings on their way and the feeling of Spring in the air.

MAD Blog nomination

Freefromfarmhouse has been nominated for a blog award! The Oscars of the parenting blogger world – the MAD blog awards – are coming up soon and nominations are now open. I was very excited to hear that my blog has been nominated in the lifestyle category and it is great to know that people are enjoying my writing.

Elevenses book

I have a recipe in a book! My delicious Chocolate beetroot cake has been featured in ‘Elevenses At Work’ which you can download for free. I love a good mid-morning snack with my cup of tea and there are some other lovely recipes to enjoy too including some ‘free from’ ones.

Baby A trying new foods

We are 2 months into weaning now and baby A is loving her food. We had a slow start because of her allergies but are now re-introducing new foods each week. This month, as part of Hipp Organic wean team, we have been sharing some of her first tastes and have a great giveaway to win a bundle of sweet and savoury baby food.

THE digger cake!

It was J’s 3rd birthday this month and I made him the best digger and construction cake ever! I am still super excited and proud of my creation, although I can’t take credit for the original idea. It was so easy to make, looked brilliant and the only problem is that now I have to find something to top it next year!

Spa break

This month my husband and I crept off for our first night alone since baby A was born. We left the children in my parents’ safe hands and headed for Champneys spa. It is only 20 minutes down the road from us in Henlow, so reassuringly close. We had a very relaxing stay and it was lovely to have some couples’ time, away from the daily humdrum. I treated myself to a facial, yoga and meditation classes and we enjoyed some delicious, healthy food and a good lie in.

What have been your favourite things this month?

Happy Birthday to the birthday boy , I bet he was pleased with his digger cake. I am a little envious of your spa day, especially the lie in!

Sounds like a lovely month. Congratulations on being nominated in the MADS and also on your recipe in an ebook. The digger cake looks fab and I’d love a spa break ( have never been on one)
