Tonight I’m writing this after being on the verge of taking J to A&E with his asthma. He deteriorates so quickly once he gets a cough or virus and I’m not sure the pollen in the air is helping. He has settled now and hopefully his steroids will kick in but I think we’re probably in for a long night.
Until today we were having a good week. J started at his new Montessori nursery and baby A had her settling in sessions at the childminder (my little girl is growing up too soon!). I feel much more happy now I have their childcare sorted as it has been a worry since my last childminder resigned.
Also this week I’ve been sharing my Mum’s vegetarian dairy free lasagna recipe so I challenge you to try it on the meat eaters in your life and see if they can tell the difference!
This week’s vegan picks are also sure winners as alternatives to their dairy filled friends.
This 3 ingredient vegan alfredo sauce from Healthy Helper looks super simple and I’m going to give it a go.
And this Vegan breakfast beetroot porridge from Vie De La Vegan should get your day started right.
I also want to mention this great Guide to cross contamination from Strength And Sunshine which has some really useful advice.

Oh Emma, I’m so sorry to hear J has got a bad chest. It is so horrible…that not knowing whether to take them to A&E or not…and I always get it wrong and don’t take them soon enough and end up with the GP calling an ambulance. It is so tough. I hope he is on the mend today. Great selection of recipes and I will be checking your mum’s lasagna out!
Thanks Vicki. It’s so hard to make that call between keeping them safe and not putting them through another trip isn’t it. Don’t worry, we’ve had the gp call an ambulance before too. I was close to calling one in the night but we got through on lots of inhaler.
Oh hun, hoping little man is ok, sending lots and lots of hugs from someone currently plugged into a nebuliser 24/7! The pollen has caught me off guard this year, the birch has flowered really early this year.
Hopefully the steroids will help him and he gets some relief soon 🙁
Thanks and I hope you feel better soon. I hadn’t thought the pollen affected him but he was bad april-august last year so I’m wondering if it does.
Oh no, I hope J is doing ok!
And thank you for featuring my beetroot cake porridge this week, Emma <3
Thanks kyra, he’s perked up a bit today.
Oh no ! Hope your little man is doing ok now!
Thanks Lisa, he’s napping with his sister right now so all good!!
Asthma is so much scarier than people realise. I hope J is much better now. Thanks for hosting x
Sorry to hear about the asthma. It looks like a bad year for hay fever….fingers crossed it’s a one off.
