One of the great things during the few years we have been involved in the allergy world is to see how far things have come. There is still a long way to go, but the awareness and the inclusion is definitely growing. That is why it has been so encouraging to the Teal Pumpkin Project gain momentum. My little terrors and I have joined in for three years now but the idea is slowly spreading.
All you do is paint a pumpkin teal – we have painted a plastic one to reuse each year or you can even just print a picture off from the FARE website – and leave it outside your house with your regular one. This shows you have non-food treats available as well as the usual sweets and chocolate.
Some of the things we use and can easily be picked up from the pound shop are:
• Glow sticks
• Bouncy balls
• Mini colouring books
• Pencil toppers
