We are away this weekend visiting friends in York which will be great fun but is also a lot of trouble when you have food allergies. It means taking food, planning ahead and dealing with eating out.
So I have shared my 6 steps to safely eating out with food allergies. What are your top tips?
One of our biggest difficulties is garlic as it is not one of the top allergens and is in almost every sauce imaginable. This week I have been trying out my new blender and making some garlic free pasta sauce – cheaper and healthier than the shop bought variety too.
It’s Super Bowl on Sunday and as my husband is an avid American football fan it will be on in our house. Sothis week I have chosen a few snacks to get stuck into and something to wash it all down in the morning!
These Paleo mini pepper nachos from Pancake Warriors are a briliant bitesize snack and a healthy alternative to the usual crisps.
Reach for these Baked chicken wings from Bluenose baker and you won’t clog up your arteries all night!
And finally, give your body a break the next morning with one of these 20 drinks to help your body detox from Intoxicated life

Happy #freefromfridays Emma! Wow, I can just imagine how difficult it would be to find foods free of garlic – it’s in sooo many savoury dishes!
It really is. I used to put in everything too!
Avoiding garlic is a pain isn’t it? I have to avoid it on the low FODMAP diet…eating out is almost impossible! Who is it in the family who has to avoid it? I hope you have a great weekend though!
I’ve only recently realised it is part of the low FODMAP diet so I need to look up some of those recipes. Both J and A are allergic! Eating out is ok if you keep it simple but any sauce or anything mixed together, like risotto, is a no no.
That’s a tricky one! I would never have considered the need to avoid garlic. Nye on impossible unless you make everything yourself….
It is pretty much impossible with sauces apart from a rare few. I had no idea you could be allergic to garlic until J’s tests came back positive – even the conusltants said it is very rare.
