Happy Birthday to me. I’ve reached the heady heights of my mid-30s but I am happy with that – 34 is the new 30!
To be honest, it wasn’t the most successful birthday. I took baby A on her first girly shopping trip but she cried for most of it and then we got stranded on the A1 with a flat tyre. Luckily my husband was at home so he and J came to rescue us. Now J thinks he’s fireman Sam! We did manage to sneak out for a birthday meal while my parents watched the children though which was lovely.
At the moment I am trying to make the most of all the fruit and vegetables out the garden and this week has been all about the Apples. I made some delicious Apple and cinnamon muffin pots and had a go at styling them out on our back deck.
There were some great recipes on the linky last week and also some lovely new bloggers joining in which is always encouraging to see.
I loved the combination of flavours in these Apricot Chickpeas with spiced coconut rice from Vie De La Vegan. I find chickpeas are a great replacement for meat – although I would be tempted to throw some chicken in!!
I also thought this Nectatine upside down cake from Gluten Free Alchemist was so pretty and almost made me forget Summer is coming to an end!
