I love to bake and so does J He will often say to me ‘let’s make something nice Mummy’ and we head off to the kitchen to make a plan – OK, I do, he usually just wants my chocolate cake!
I am so glad that he loves to bake though and his allergies don’t hold him back. It has been a great learning curve and adventure over the last four years to discover how to make all our favourite things allergy free.
We love to experiment but there are a few products that we always rely on.
Plamil chocolate is amazing – it is dairy free, nut free and if you haven’t tried their chocolate spread you need to get some now! Their chocolate drops are perfect for using in baking and I love their chocolate shavings for decorating or using on truffles.
There are many different types of egg replacers you can use but the one I come back to time and time again is ¼ cup apple sauce. I find the easiest thing to do is use the baby fruit pots as they aren’t too wasteful and nice to finish off afterwards!
We are not gluten free in the FreeFromFarmhouse and I have to admit that I have never been a great fan of gluten free food as it can be so dry and crumbly. But I am a convert to the FreeFromFairy Flour. It is easy to use, nutritious and most importantly, works really well.
You can all win these allergy free baking essentials in our ultimate food allergy survival kit.

Free From Fridays
Last week I loved these fruity mini cheesecakes from Intolerant Gourmand. How delicious do they look! And so quick and easy to make.
I’m also enjoying the Free From Families series over on Adventures of mummy and me and could really relate to this story about fussy eaters.
