They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach so this Valentine’s day I’m making my husband’s favourite breakfast, French Toast, but safe for both my boys.
I love discovering new ways to recreate dairy or egg filled recipes and these vegan french toast turned out great. The honey and cinnamon give a lovely sweet, sticky flavour and taste authentic. I’ve cheated a little bit as I’ve used egg replacer but it gives the perfect consistency and sticks well to the bread.
I stuck to the Valentine’s theme by cutting the bread into heart shapes and it’s a great way to involve the kids in the cooking, but full slices are just as tasty! Serve them with berries, bananas or even chocolate.
- 4 slices bread
- 3tsp Organ egg replacer
- 3tbsp dairy free milk
- 3tsp runny honey
- 1tsp cinnamon
- 2tbsp vegetable oil
- Cut shapes out of bread. Mix together all other ingredients, apart from oil.
- Dredge bread shapes in mixture on both sides. Heat oil in a frying pan and add bread.
- Fry for about 3mins on each side until browned.
