The Food Allergy Mama’s Baking Book: Brilliant recipes for dairy free, egg free and nut free baking 5/5 *****
I will warn you now, I am quite evangelical about this cook book!
It changed my life.
I know that sounds a little extreme but it’s true. J had just been diagnosed with his food allergies when we flew off to Texas for Christmas. I love to bake and was wondering how I would ever make sweet treats for him.
Then I found The Food Allergy Mama’s Baking Book while we were in America and it restored my dream.
When I came back I started baking and was amazed at all the things I could still make that tasted so good and how easy the substitutions were.
The chocolate brownies and pancakes are my favourites as I really don’t think you can tell the difference from ‘real’ ones.
The only difficulty is texture. The muffins don’t have any ‘top’ and the cakes are little dense – but they all still taste good. I made the cake mixture for his 1st birthday and it was all gobbled up!
All the measurements are American so are done in cups but you can easily buy a set of measuring cups and it is a really easy way to cook.
Pros: Easy, foolproof recipes
Cons: American measurements
What are your favourite ‘free from’ cook books? I would love to add some more to my bookshelf.
