Pink porridge recipe #weanteam

April 21, 2016 by Emma 11 Comments

Baby A turns 9 months this week and is crawling and climbing everything so it is important that I can make healthy breakfasts so she is full of energy for all her adventures.

This pink porridge packs in 3 fruits and fills her with slow releasing carbohydrates and protein in the morning. It’s not just for babies though as I enjoy it too and so does J! You can add a drizzle of honey if you want to sweeten it a little.

As we have done elements of baby led weaning since the start, baby A is good with eating lumps but if you have been doing purees then around 7-9 months is the time to start introducing more lumps into their meals. This recipe is still fairly smooth with some small soft lumps for them to enjoy and is perfect for this stage of weaning.

Pink porridge

50g oats

125ml dairy free milk

½ banana

¼ apple

Handful strawberries or rasberries

Method

Mash the banana and rasberries/strawberries. Add to a saucepan with oats and milk over a low heat. Dice apple into 1/2cm cubes and add to the porridge. Cook gently for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.a porridge

Baby A is also starting to eat more now – some days I think she eats more than J! We have been testing out some of Hipp’s products as part of their #weanteam and she particularly enjoys their strawberry fruit pots with apple pieces. They have over 40 recipes for different stages so you can easily introduce more tastes and textures. If you are unsure about introducing lumps to your baby then take a look at this video from Hipp’s nutitionist for some useful tips.

This sounds yum!! Haven’t given Amelia porridge since we were weaning as I don’t like it but might let her try it again as a change of breakfast! Hope the weaning goes well xx
