For J’s 1st birthday we planted an apple tree.
We wanted something that would grow with him and remind us every year how lucky we are to have our little boy.
Today we picked the first two apples from the tree and made a dairy freee apple crumble.
An apple crumble is such an easy, comforting home cooked meal. I also think it is a great reminder that some of our favourite, classic recipes can be allergy-free.
So here is our dairy free apple crumble recipe made with wholemeal flour and brown sugar to give it a nuttiness (ironic, I know!)
J’s Dairy Free Apple Crumble
2 large cooking apples
Juice half a lemon
110g plain flour
110g wholemeal flour
110g dairy free margarine
50g brown sugar
Peel and slice apples and place in baking dish. Squeeze over lemon juice.
Rub flours and margarine together to form bread crumbs. Mix in sugar.
Sprinkle crumble topping over apples. Bake in oven 180C for 20mins.
