7 layer dip picnic pots – Gluten free & vegan

May 4, 2017 by Emma 10 Comments

It’s Picnic time! We love a picnic in our house; the kids regularly have one in the back garden! But group picnics make me a bit nervous. There are so many people with dips, spreads, crumbs and a whole host of ingredients that could make J and Miss A poorly that I am constantly on guard. One of our difficulties is always dips. Most shop bought ones have milk, sesame or egg in them so we have to steer clear. So today, I’ve made you a fabulous gluten free, vegan 7 layer dip, free from all the top 14 allergens!

gluten free and vegan 7 layer dip

Yes, you heard that right – 7 amazing layers of deliciousness with no milk, egg, gluten, sesame or any other top 14 allergens.

This dip is a classic in the USA and inspired by Mexican cuisine, so perfect for Cinco De Mayo tomorrow.

I loooove Mexican food! When I used to work on a cruise ship sailing to Mexico every week I got a real taste for it and now when we go back to visit Mr C’s family in Texas, I can’t wait for a good dose of Tex Mex.

So, I’ve brought a little taste of Texas to the green, green grass of home! For a picnic, this dip works perfectly packaged up in jam jars.

dairy free dip: mexican dip free from top 14 allergens

Gluten free vegan 7 layer dip

Layer 1 (2-3 tablespoons)

Refried beans

1/2 tsp gluten free taco seasoning (optional)

Layer 2 (2-3 tablespoons)

Pico De Gallo (I use Pioneer Woman’s recipe)

Layer 3 (2-3 tablespoons)

Guacamole (Also Pioneer Woman’s recipe)

Layer 4 (2-3 tablespoons)

Dairy Free sour cream (can substitute with dairy free yoghurt)

Layer 5 (2-3 tablespoons)

Grated dairy free cheese

Layer 6 (2 tablespoons)

Chopped tomatoes

Layer 7 (1 tablespoon)

Sliced black olives

Layer each jam jar, garnish with coriander and serve with vegetable sticks or safe tortialla chips.

These 7 layer dip picnic pots are gluten free, vegan and top14free. They are full of Mexican flavour and fresh ingredients. Perfect for your next picnic!

This would be perfect to make up in advance. I’m looking for new vegan ideas now the weather is warmer and this sounds very yummy.

Such a great idea, Emma! I’d seen xxx-layer dips in American series but I didn’t realise they were really a thing, he he! Yours really sounds lovely, and it all looks so cute in these teeny jars.
