When I went to university in Leeds I was introduced to a supermarket I’d never heard of ‘down south’ – Morrisons! The company has now successfully spread across the country and last week I was invited to their flagship store in London to learn more about their newly expanded Free From Range.
I was impressed to see such a large Free From aisle stocking popular and own brand products and it was also the first time I have seen a dedicated fridge and freezer section all in the same place, which is a great idea.
Like many of the Free From ranges though, the main focus is on gluten free food. I understand this but it can be very frustrating as J and A still can’t eat a lot of it. Even the ones that are dairy free often contain egg or may contain nuts.
The head of Morrision’s Free From Range was at the event and was very enthusiastic and receptive to hear feedback, which was encouraging and it sounds like they have already responded proactively to customer demand. I explained how we struggle to find products for multiple allergies and also the lack of products with kids in mind. Hopefully, we will be working with them on some of these issues and help develop more multiple allergen products in the range.
I would love to hear what you struggle to find. Do you have the same issues with multiple allergens? What products would you love to see for your kids?
As part of the day I was given a selection of free from products and challenged to create a recipe from them. So check out my dairy free and gluten free Caramel apple streusel bars
