What do you do when you can’t find the book you want? You write it!
I’m so proud and excited to introduce my new book to you. It is everything I wanted when J was first diagnosed and I am hoping it will help lots of other people in the same situation.
We are now six years into our allergy journey and it’s been a rollercoaster ride. There have been lots of tears, scary moments and life changing experiences. I have felt overwhelmed, anxious, lonely and sometimes defeated.
But there have also been many positives too. I have learnt so much, I have connected with some amazing people and I have managed to turn our new normal into a positive journey to help others.
‘Living With Allergies: Practical Tips For All The Family’ is the practical and comprehensive guide I was looking for and is packed with up to date research, practical advice, expert insights and stories from people who are living with allergies every day.
One of my favourite parts of writing the book was interviewing allergy experts and I am so grateful to be able to feature inisghts from ten leading voices in the allergy world including Dr Adam Fox, Professor George Du Toit, Rosan Meyer, Rebecca Knibb, and Professor Chris Corrigan.
I am also extremely happy that the book has been clinically reviewed and endorsed by Allergy UK and I was overwhelmed by the words of Amena Warner, the clinical director:
“It was a real honour to clinically review this book as it is the first comprehensive book ever on allergy, written by someone who has been on that ‘allergic journey’ searching for information. This is a really brilliant piece of work for people looking for information on allergy in simple terms and all in one place.”
And also from Dr Adam Fox, who is a leading peadeatric allergist:
“This is an excellent resource to help people understand and manage their allergies effectively – I will certainly be recommending it to my patients. It draws together the latest research, expert insight and practical tips and is the book you need when you leave the doctor’s office and have to navigate everyday life.”
I am really proud of the book and wish I had it when we were starting out. I am hoping it will give people all the information they need to understand allergies and approach them in a practical and proactive way. I wanted to inform, educate but just as importantly reassure people that they can adapt to their new normal and lead a full and inclusive life with allergies.
I want to say a big thankyou to everyone who has been involved in this book, in our journey and to all allergy families out there who are living it every day.

Love these images and love you Emma. Thrilled you’ve finally got the real thing in your hands, its been such a lot of hard work and I am so proud of you. I’ve only read half so far but this is an awesome book darling, so much information at a level I can understand and apply to my situations. This is going to be such a brilliant resource for families living with allergies, everyone I know starting on this path will hear about Living With Allergies xxx
What an achievement! I know I have said it before, but I will say it again: your book is the exact resource I needed when Jumpy was diagnosed with a multitude of allergies 6 years ago. She’s come a long way but had anyone been able to recommend a book like yours at the time, I wouldn’t have spent as many nights crying myself to sleep, worried about my baby and not understanding what was happening to us…
Gorgeous photos lovely! Its a beautifully written book, like a great big ray of sunshine for those times when the world of allergies just seems a little too black and overwhelming. The oldest Pea has started reading it too, its great for her to have something written in a way she can understand and arm her with the information she needs as she becomes more independent!
