There are some things in life you expect to be afraid of – the dark, losing people you love or creepy crawlies.
Milk is not one of them.
But since J had his anaphylactic reaction last year I have been terrified of this everyday, innocuous food stuff. I tense up every time I see a toddler dunking a biscuit in it or a cup of tea left languishing with it in the bottom.
However, those days might soon be over.
This week we went for J’s annual skin prick tests and his results for milk allergy were nearly negative. This is such life changing, exciting news as it means we can start reintroducing it into his diet and the chances of a serious reaction are incredibly low.
When I started this blog a little over a year ago this day felt so far away and I didn’t believe people that said he could outgrow his milk allergy as his reactions were so severe. It gives me hope that he might be able to outgrow his other allergies as well.
We have been advised to take it very slowly, staying on each stage of the milk ladder for a few months, but I can see the final rung on the horizon.
It is amazing to think of all the foods it will open up for him and I can’t wait for the day I can take him out for pizza and ice cream!
