I didn’t really know where my blog would take me when I started – but I definitely didn’t think it would take me to Washington DC to lobby congressmen! Back then I was trying to come to terms with J’s anaphylactic reaction and my miscarriage. I was looking for a way to deal with my emotions, make sense of our new reality and look for something positive to focus on.
Last week was full of positivity as over 100 people came together for the Allergy And Asthma Network advocacy day on Capitol Hill. It was a mix of bloggers, clinicians, patients and industry experts who all had a story to tell and a desire to make things better.
I was proud to be part of it and call for continued funding for research and legislations to see epipens on all airlines and sesame as a top allergen in America. I learnt so much about healthcare disparities, treatment options and how easy it is to normalise asthma symtpoms.
It was a very powerful reminder of why I’m proud to be part of this community and how important it is that we all keep speaking up as our voices can be part of important and lasting change.

So proud of you darling, what an amazing experience and what a perfect advocate they have found in you.
This sounds like the most incredible experience. I can’t wait to hear more about it x
Who would have thought starting a blog would take you to Washington to talk to congressmen indeed? It’s absolutely amazing that you are not only writing about allergies and asthma, but also working hard to make sure your voice gets heard amongst the crowd. So so proud of you, sweetie!
