This time last week I was 8 days overdue, heavy, tired and frustrated. I was hoping that the sweep I had booked would get things moving and…..it worked!
My beautiful daughter, Amalia Grace, was born on 21st July at 6.35am. J is a very proud big brother and it melts my heart to see them together
I always wanted two children, a boy followed by a girl, so I am an incredibly happy and proud ‘one of each’ mum. After taking two years to conceive J and suffering a miscarriage last year there were many times when I never thought we would be lucky enough to be in this position.
But, I can categorically say – I am never doing that again! I had a severe hemorrhage with J and needed two blood transfusions and this time baby A had shoulder dystocia which led to an incredibly painful and traumatic birth.
We are now both at home and recovering well and despite, or maybe because of, the difficulties getting here I feel blessed to have both my gorgeous children and know my husband and I have completed our little family.

A thousand congratulations to you all… Welcome to the world little Amalia! She is simple perfect. Take it easy and enjoy every second with her.. xx
Thanks, she is pretty perfect!

Congratulations! I too welcomed a little girl this week to join an older brother – isn’t it wonderful? I’m sorry to hear your birth experience was rather traumatic again, you poor things – but great news that you’re recovering well at home now. Wishing you all the best as a lovely family of four! #MummyMonday

Huge congratulations to you and your family. Well done, mama – that sounds like it was a very difficult birth but you overcame it and now look, two beautiful children.

I am savouring every moment.
Congratulations what a gorgeous family you have. #maternitymondays
Thanks x
Congratulations! How wonderful it must be to get home and be in the place you always dreamed of being 🙂 take it easy, give yourself time to recover from the difficult and traumatic birth, remember it’s okay however you feel after that, labour and birth isn’t always the “perfect” we expect it to be and that can leave us feeling conflicted… If you need to talk about it at any time, do! You can feel blessed and also let down at the same time… Hope that makes sense?
You’re right, I do feel blessed and let down as I never got the birth experience I was hoping for. I sometimes think ‘why me?’and mull over the scary bits. I went through my birth notes with midwife last time and will do it again as it helped me process what happened and think it’s important to talk about it.
Congratulations! She’s so beautiful 🙂 I’m so sorry to hear it was so rough, but glad both of you are okay. Enjoy your newborn baby snuggles! (And toddler snuggles, he’s a sweetie too!)
I am loving the snuggles from both of them! x
That photo of J and A together is so adorable, he looks like a very proud big brother! Congratulations again, Amalia is so cute 🙂

Huge congratulations on beautiful baby A, that picture of your two children are stunning, I felt my family was complete when my second son was born, something so wonderful about giving a sibling to your eldest child if you can. I am so sorry to hear the birth was traumatic, I suffered a traumatic birth with my first and know how tough it can be, sending you love and hope you have lots of support there xx
Thanks, yes I love the picture of them together too. I have good support thanks and I’m recovering well but I think a traumatic birth always lingers with you.
