“I love swimming,” gushed J enthusiastically after his latest session with Little Aqua. “Can I go every day?”
This is the same child who used to cry, cling to the side and refuse to put his face anywhere near the water.
Little Aqua has transformed his swimming ability but more importantly, his confidence. He jumps, splashes, dives down to the bottom, swims across the pool and roars with laughter as he is thrown into the air.
Private swimming lessons
The lessons are taught either with private tuition or 1:2, which is what J has. He is paired with another child of a similar ability and the instructors seamlessly manage to give them shared and individual attention.
We first chose Little Aqua as we knew J was too nervous to be taught in a large group of children. He simply wouldn’t have got in the pool and wouldn’t have received the support he needed to build his confidence.
The progression each child makes is amazing. We watched one child swim solo across the pool during his first term! J took a little longer to feel comfortable in the water but is still far ahead of other children his age, swimming unaided and working on his backstroke arms.
How Little Aqua works
Little Aqua work closely with each child through a structured programme to help them learn to swim without the use of floats or any other floatation devices. Through play, they build their confidence while teaching them core capabilities and help them learn to float unaided, before progressing to swimming skills.
I think it is such a great way to teach them but simply wouldn’t be possible in a larger group. This is why the private and 1:2 tuition is so invaluable. The lessons are bit more expensive than at our local swimming pool, costing about double the price, but you get so much more than double the progress and it is definitely value for money.
The core lessons start from 2 1/2 – Miss A is desparate to get started! – but Little Aqua also do group swimming lessons for babies and parents, which is such a lovely experience. As all lessons take place in private pools across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, it is also much warmer and more inviting than a public class too.
We have teamed up with Little Aqua to bring you a great offer to get you started. Whether you want to sign up for private, 1:2 or group baby classes you can get £10 off your first term of lessons.
