Am I ready to be a mother of two?

June 29, 2015 by Emma 24 Comments

Am I ready to become a mother of two?

Will I even remember what to do?

The sleepless nights and endless days.

Everything changes, it’s only a phase.

The day I met J!

Am I ready to keep two little people alive?

To feed them, nourish them and watch them thrive.

Covered in piles of washing, wipes and nappies

A house full of chaos but everyone’s happy.

baby feet

Am I ready to see my baby become a brother?

To feel pushed out by bringing home another?

A new little baby with tiny fingers and toes.

A precious younger sibling with whom he can grow.

Learning to fly!

Am I ready to share my love for one?

Can I really feel like I do for my son?

ย Twice the cuddles and twice the joy.

My heart is expanding to fit my baby and boy.

J's a happy bunny!

Am I ready to become a mother of two?

There’s nothing I would rather do.

Aww thats lovely! Its quite daunting isn’t it? There was 10 years between my 2, so it’d been so long since Id had a newborn, plus my eldest had been an only child for 10 years. But we wouldn’t change it for the world!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Aww lovely! There’s only 15 months between mine & I was worried the eldest would feel pushed out when she hadn’t had that long of just her, but she LOVES her little sister. She’s loved her right from the start. #sharethejoylinky

You’re right, I think we all can just do our best and I do think giving him a sibling is a great gift.

This is an absolutely gorgeous poem. I find myself increasingly thinking more about having no.2 (although not quite yet) and you’ve perfectly described some of the thoughts and feelings I have.

Good luck with your growing family. ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

aww you will be fine. I forgot EVERYTHING but as both my kids are so different, it doesn’t really matter. It is like riding a bike in every way.

I think we’ve probably blocked a lot of the reality of babyhood out! But you’re right they’ll probably be completely different anyway.

What a beautiful poem! Lovely photos too. There’s so much to think about. Even though people say it’s easier the second time round I actually think it would be even more daunting. Maybe in the future I will find out.
