Wow, where has this year gone?! It’s a weird vortex being a parent, when even though our days are longer than ever (ours mostly start at 4.45am!), time seems to fly by. My mum always said that once you have children you notice time more as you measure everything against their development, and it’s true.
This time last year we were getting ready to give baby A her first food on Christmas day. 12 months later, there’s no stopping her! It’s been fun to document her weaning journey as part of Hipp Organic’s Wean Team and I’ve been looking back at some our favourite moments.
Miss A was 5 months old when we started weaning her. She looks so little and it’s strange to see without hair, when now she’s got wild, wavy locks. It was lovely to start her first foods on Christmas day and I’m glad I caught it on camera. Unfortunately, weaning didn’t go completely smoothly after that and we ended up putting her back on just prescription milk for a while as her body was not reacting well. Luckily, once we started reintroducing food it was successful and she has loved it ever since.
Live chat: Weaning with food allergies
It was great to be able to host a live chat on Hipp Organic’s Facebook page about weaning with food allergies. After doing it twice, with allergic reactions along the way, I was pleased to be able to help other people out in the same situation.
Baby A’s first steps
Miss A has never really thought she was a baby and has done everything fairly early, so when she started walking at 10 months. I wasn’t surprised. She had been insisting on walking everywhere holding our hands for a while so I was excited to see her finally take her first steps.
Your baby’s first birthday always brings mixed feelings as it is an exciting milestone but also marks them leaving those early days behind. As we know we are not having any more children, it was a bitter sweet day but one that baby A thoroughly enjoyed! We had a great time at the splash park and it will be fun having a Summer baby and planning all her parties in the warm weather.
Hipp bath range
Out of all the products we tested this year, the new Hipp freefrom bath range was definitely our favourite. Both J and A have sensitive skin so we it was lovely to find products that are sutiable for them are also bubbly and fun. The duck soap has become standard in out bathroom, for children and adults alike!
The graduation party
Last month Hipp threw our little ones a graduation party and even gave them all American style baby graduation gowns! It was lovely to celebrate their journey together and I’ll be sad not to have these monthly updates to record Miss A’s progress.
She’s definitely progressed past the weaning stage now though and will quite happily eat most of what we do. She is still limited by her milk, egg and sesame allergies and we are waiting to get further tests but these don’t really limit her from enjoying similar foods to any other child her age.
It has been great to be sent tailored weaning products and have a Hipp Organic nutritionist on hand to help. Hipp have lots of great weaning advice on their website and a range of nutritional, organic and natural products for all stages.
