My baby girl turns 2!

July 21, 2017 by Emma 1 Comment

My baby girl turns 2 today – how did that happen?!

On one hand it seems like only yesterday we were waiting impatiently for her to make her dramatic entrance into the world but it also feels like she has been ‘nearly two’ for an eternity. To be honest it doesn’t really seem very long since J turned two!

Miss A is wise beyond her years and as she is also tall for her age (after having a head start as a 9lb14 newborn!) it often seems to me and others as if she is much older.

She is such a smart little cookie – already talking in sentences, knows her colours and can count to 15. She is also a bit of a diva! Especially when it comes to clothes. Whereas J has never really cared what he wears – apart from his obsession with dressing as a fireman – Miss A has strong opinions. Every morning she goes and chooses clothes and woe betide you if you disagree, especially if you try to put her in a dress!

I love seeing her relationship with J develop and watch them building little worlds together. They are both very loving and caring towards each other – when they are not arguing over toys or Tv programmes!

Allergies

Allergies wise, she has been fairly stable and we have managed to mainly avoid most the foods she is allergic to. She had a reaction to a ‘may contain sesame’ breadstick a few months ago along with J, which was a bit concerning and has made us rethink ‘may contains’.

We still haven’t been able to pin down what she has had her most severe reactions to. We are still certain it is a spice – possibly Chilli or Cumin – but the skin prick tests have come back negative and there are no blood tests for them. We currently avoiding them but I will be pushing for some food challenges at her appointment next year as it is worrying to not know and also means ‘spices’ and ‘natural flavours’ on packaging are a bit of a minefield.

She doesn’t show signs of being asthmatic like J but has a frequently bad chest and runny nose which I think is affected by the pollen.

Sadly, her amazing Childminder has decided to stop so she will be starting pre-school in September. I was hoping to keep her in one place for a while longer while I get used to J starting school with allergies. But her childminder will actually be working at the preschool so it will be an easy transition and they seem to have everything under control.

Mummy and me time

Today we are off to Peppa Pig world to celebrate her birthday (probably in the rain if the forecasts are correct!). Then I’m looking forward to our Mummy and me time a few days a week when J starts school, especially starting her in BabyBallet classes (eek!) although we’ll both find it strange not having him around.

I do feel sad that my little baby girl is growing up as we won’t be having any more children but I’m also excited to see her develop and look forward to all the adventures we can have together.

Happy birthday baba!
