Baby A’s first food: Hipp Organic #weanteam

December 27, 2015 by Emma 16 Comments

Merry Christmas! OK, it’s a little late but I took a break over the festive period to just relax with my family and enjoy the run up to the big day. It was the first year that J understood what was going on and it was fun to watch his excitement unfold.

Baby A's first christmas and first food @hipporganic #weanteam

Baby A’s first food

It was also lovely to just spend the day as a foursome and enjoy baby A’s first Christmas together. Christmas is all about family and food it seemed appropriate that we should give baby A her first taste of something to eat on Christmas day.

She is 5 months now, can sit up and has been grabbing for my meals so we decided she was ready to start weaning. When I cooked up our roast I put aside a few carrots, served two ways – starting her young as a foodie! – and she had carrot sticks to chew on and carrot puree as well.

I caught the moment on video but as you can see, she wasn’t all that impressed! She was more interested in playing with the spoon. And that’s fine. I always like the phrase ‘food before one is just for fun’ as it is all about exploration and introducing them to new flavours and textures.

Hipp Organic Wean Team

We are excited to be sharing baby A’s first foods journey as part of Hipp Organic’s Wean team, a 12 month blogger programme that will document all those exciting developments that we will be experiencing over the next year.

Meeting the @hipporganic #weanteam

Earlier this month we were invited to a baby brunch and met the other babies taking part and some of the Hipp team. They are are a family run brand with over 150 products, including fruit pots, pouches and tray meals, which we are looking forward to trying.

Weaning with food allergies

Baby A will be taking her weaning journey slowly as I am aware, with her allergic tendencies, that we might face a few bumps along the way. It was only after J had a very bad reaction to hummus that we started to learn the extent of his allergies.

This time I have more knowledge and I am starting off with the least allergenic fruits and vegetables – carrot, sweet potato, apple – and will only be introducing one thing every three days. I will also be avoiding any of the foods we think she has issues with until after allergy tests have clarified this.

What was your baby’s first food? Have you tried Hipp products and which was your favourite?

Finley enjoyed Hipp good when he was a little younger. There’s always some great multi buy offers on them too!

Aw the video is very cute and my little girl was very similar for ages when she first started trying food. I hope your journey goes smoothly and totally agree with you that food before 1 is just for fun. We found just being relaxed about it and serving up little bits of what we had worked best. xx

As I write this she has sweet potato in her eyebrow and is happily chewing on her bib so I think you have to be relaxed about it!

We’re doing a combination, mainly BLW but as she’s a bit younger I don’t want to give her too much yet.

Delighted you had a lovely Christmas – great to be able to swtich off. I seemed to blog even more – maybe that is my way of switching off! We are fully weaned now (well almost) and glad we’re at this stage where we can just sideline a piece of our dinner for her! Very exciting though on the weaning journey as the baby’s grow.

Well done for being apart of the wean team and what a lovely thing to do to give baby their first food on Christmas day. I like Hipp and have used them along side my own cooking for weaning

Hipp Organic is fantastic one of the best baby brands there are. Especially when you are weaning children onto their first foods.
