We’re already a week into 2019 and it’s going to be a big year for us. Not only is my book being released but it is our 10 year wedding anniversary and Mr C turns 50.
I wrote a post a few years ago about 40 things I want to do before I’m 40 but Mr C isn’t much of a list maker. So I’ve written one for him – 5 family goals before he turns 50 (It’s a bit more manageable than 50 things in the next 7 months!)
1. Book a holiday
With his big birthday and our wedding anniversary, we want to go on a lovely family holiday to celebrate. Travelling has always been a big part of our life and we didn’t make it abroad last year so we want somewhere sunny and relaxing. We are tempted to head back to Cyprus where we got married, but I also fancy a trip to a Greek island as I’ve never been before.
2. Plan an anniversary party
Mr C doesn’t want a birthday party but I can just about convince him to have an anniversary party a few months later. If I had my way, it would be a vow renewal but he’s pretty adamant he said it was forever the first time and he doesn’t feel the need to say it again! So I’m fairly sure I’m going to lose that one.
3. Get debt free
Next month we finally pay off the loan for our car and we have also almost paid off our credit cards too, which we’ve had in some form for as long as I can remember. It would be amazing to be debt free, apart from our mortgage, by the time he hits 5-0 in the middle of next year.
4. Go to legoland
Yes, I know this sounds like one just for the kids but Mr C is enjoying the new lego obsession in our house just as much as they are! I remember going to Legoland in Denmark when I was a kid and am really excited about giving them all the same experience next year. We will probably do it for J’s birthday in March.
5. Extend the garden
We are lucky to have quite a long stretch of land behind our house but it is split into different sections – the main garden, a parking area, large double garage and then extra garden that backs onto the field. The parking area is bigger than we need it to be and has some unsused space which I would love to incorporate into the main garden so the kids have more room to run.
So there we go, 5 things to do before Mr C turns 50. I think they are all manageable and it would make the year even more exciting if we could get them all done.
