On Tuesday I headed down to London for the ‘Free From’ world’s event of the year – the Free From Food Awards.
A few month’s ago I spent the day as a judge, eating lots and lots of food and helping to decide who the winners would be. So I was excited to see the awards being handed out.
Check out my little vlog on the day.
The event was packed with over 300 people, which is a great reflection of the growth in the industry and the interest in free from food. This included some of the country’s top retailers like Tesco; small, homegrown suppliers, journalists and bloggers.
It was a fun and inspiring evening, topped off with the winner’s buffet where all the top products are laid out for the guests to try.
My favourite winner was the Coconut Collaborative Little Choc Pots but I also loved some of the highly commendeds including the Nonna dairy, egg and nut free pesto and the beautiful chocolates from Cocoa Libre.
You can find out all the winners here.
I feel privileged to be part of this community and to be a small part of promoting and growing the Free From food market.
It’s so important that, as the it was put on the day by Anthony Worrall Thompson who presented the awards: ‘people with allergies are treated as normal’. Everyone at this event was full of enthusiasm for making this a reality.
Next stop, the Free From Eating Out Awards!
