Have you ever had a freakshake? Yes, it’s a thing! It’s the latest trend – a monster milkshake, somewhere between a drink and a meal and usually loaded with cream and calories. Well, how about a healthy version? This breakfast freakshake it a delicious dairy free smoothie, smothered in coconut cream, drizzled with honey and topped with strawberries!
Sound good? Even better, it’s really easy to whizz up in the morning and is packed with nutrients, healthy fats and protein. So a perfect way to start the day. And it’s soooo pretty!
I had been thinking about making a breakfast freakshake for a while so when Vita Coco challenged me to come up with a recipe using their coconut milk alternative, I knew it was time for this decadent dairy free smoothie.
The milk is really smooth, creamy and refreshing and makes a lovely drink on it’s own. It works beautifully in this smoothie though as it is lighter than many other dairy free milks and also soy free, so suitable for Miss A who cannot tolerate soy milk.
- 300ml vita coconut milk
- 1 banana
- 75g frozen berries
- 75g fresh strawberries
- Handful of oats
- 1 tbsp honey
- 3 tbsp whipped coconut cream
- Strawberries and honey to decorate
- Blend the coconut milk, banana, berries, strawberries, oats and honey together.
- Pour into a glass and spoon coconut cream on top. Add strawberries and drizzle on honey.
